The Chaska City Council adopted Resolution 2025‑22 on April 21 to approve a preliminary site and building plan for Beckman Coulter’s expansion at 316 Lake Hazeltine Drive.
City planning staff described the project as an addition to an existing one‑story, roughly 60,000‑square‑foot building on a nearly 13‑acre parcel in a planned multi‑use district (PMD‑1). The proposed addition — a two‑story building totaling approximately 48,000 square feet of new floor area — would add office, warehouse and manufacturing space and expand surface parking. Initial construction would provide just over 400 stalls with the site able to accommodate up to 529 stalls to meet code requirements; staff said additional stalls could be added north of the building outside wetland areas if required.
Planning staff said truck access would use an eastern entrance for loading docks and that stormwater would be treated with a combination of underground systems and above‑ground features. The applicant proposed exterior materials to match the existing campus, primarily precast concrete panels with vertical reveals and glazing at main entrances. Staff recommended approval of the preliminary site and building plan subject to the resolution’s conditions.
Amy Salisbury, senior director of operations at the Chaska Beckman Coulter facility, told the council the company’s expansion would create about 300 additional jobs at the Chaska location. Council members welcomed the company’s continued investment and the jobs expansion.
The council voted to adopt Resolution 2025‑22 approving the preliminary site and building plan; the motion carried without recorded opposition.
