School board asks Glades County for guidance on upgrade to lift station serving relocated middle school

Steve Dobbs, speaking for the school board, said engineers found the lift station would need an upgrade; he told commissioners the price proposals returned were roughly a half‑million dollars and that the school board could not pay the full amount. Dobbs said the lift station currently handles the middle school—s flows and that a failure would pose significant problems for the school and other users south of SR 27. He asked the county for direction on cost sharing and whether the school board should present the request at a future commission meeting.
A county staff member identified as Carl advised that the first place to start would be to provide pertinent information to the CCB WAV so they could evaluate possible participation in funding. Commissioners asked staff to assist in coordinating next steps and flagged the need to review plans and scope to ensure the upgrade is not over‑specified.
