The Glades County Board of County Commissioners on March 11 authorized county staff to sign and accept a criminal-justice grant that will fund four detectives in the sheriff's office.
Dwight Hall of the Glades County Sheriff s Office told the board the grant has operated for several years and underwrites four detective positions and related task-force work. Hall said the grant helps the sheriff ccess task-force resources and supports local investigations.
County staff recommended the board approve the acceptance and authorize signature "subject to the county manager and county attorney pproval of the document content," language that the board adopted in the motion. The board voted in favor of the authorization; the record shows the board approved the item by voice vote with commissioners present signaling assent.
County staff said the approval authorizes the county to sign on the grant documents (the packet contained multiple pages and signature blocks) and that final administrative reviews would occur before execution.
