The Village of Waukesha board moved into closed session under Wisconsin statute 19.85 to consider employment of a public employee and heard from candidate Rob Kwiatkowski, who described roughly 13 years of DPW experience.
After the closed session the board returned to open session and approved hiring Mr. Kwiatkowski as the Village DPW supervisor, offering the contract terms discussed in closed session.
The closed-session notice read in public cited Wis. Stat. § 19.85, which permits closed deliberation when considering employment, promotion or performance data of a public employee under the board’s jurisdiction. The board then introduced the candidate briefly in open session before moving into closed session for discussion.
Following the closed session Trustee Bukolz moved to hire Rob Kwiatkowski as DPW supervisor; Trustee Sigler seconded. The motion passed on an aye vote. Village President Chad Niles read and clarified the candidate’s name for the record before the vote.
Mr. Kwiatkowski, introduced during the public portion as a DPW worker with roughly 13 years’ experience, said some administrative responsibilities would be new to him but he expressed willingness to take on the role. The board approved the hiring and the contract terms as discussed in closed session.
