Council approves salt contract, intersection project, parks appointment and rescue equipment in unanimous votes

Twinsburg City Council on April 22 adopted a package of measures by roll-call votes, acting unanimously on several emergency items intended to meet deadlines or address immediate operational needs.
Council voted 7-0 to join the Ohio Department of Transportation road-salt contracts for 2025, citing a May 2 deadline to enter the agreement. Council also voted 7-0 to accept a bid from SET Incorporated for the Ravenna-Shepherd-Broadway-Richmond intersection project so supplies and work can start on schedule. Both actions were advanced by suspending the council's three-reading rule and then adopting the measures as emergencies.
Council appointed a member to the Parks and Recreation Commission by emergency resolution (7-0) so the new member could attend a meeting later this week, and it approved a purchase agreement for Paratech rescue equipment for the fire department, citing an urgency to buy before a potential rate increase. That resolution also passed unanimously.
Each vote was taken by roll call after motions to suspend the three-reading rule; Shannon (the clerk) read the roll and recorded unanimous yes votes on the four measures.
The ODOT salt contract (Resolution 43-20-25) was advanced so the city could participate in a statewide bid; council members said the suspension of readings was necessary to meet ODOT's May 2 deadline. Ordinance 44-20-25 accepts the intersection bid and was advanced so supplies could be ordered for timely project start. Resolution 45-20-25 fills a Parks and Recreation Commission vacancy ahead of an upcoming meeting; Resolution 46-20-25 authorizes purchase of rescue shoring equipment for trench and rescue operations for the fire department.
All four measures passed 7-0 on the night.
