House honors Vicky and Jerry Berger for public service

"Heroes are not giants framed against the red sky. They're people who decide they're gonna make their community better because it's their duty," Evans said, urging colleagues to recognize the couple while they are able to accept the tribute in person.
Several members added brief remarks praising the couple's work; Representative Mannix and others urged colleagues to thank the Bergers in the chamber. The House then voted on final reading; HCR 8 received the required majority and was declared passed. Members did not provide a roll-call tally in the transcript.
