Two Coppell residents used citizen appearances Tuesday to announce the chartering of a new Kiwanis club in Coppell and to invite residents to the group’s first meetings.
Mercedes Hall, who said she has been elected charter president of the Coppell Kiwanis Club, described Kiwanis as a service organization focused on youth and leadership development. “Kiwanis is focused on serving the children of the world,” Hall said, announcing that Coppell High School students seek to charter a Key Club and that organizers hope to sponsor Builders Club and K-Kids in local schools.

Diane Evans, a new member of the club, invited residents to the group's first meeting this Thursday at Triumph in Corporate Park, 651 Canyon Drive, Suite 105, at 6 p.m. She said the club will meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month and plans to discuss fundraising, youth engagement and volunteer opportunities.
