Page County approves MidAmerican Energy utility permit for wind-project crossings

The Page County Board of Supervisors approved a utility permit for MidAmerican Energy Company to install medium-voltage collector lines across county roads as part of a wind energy project that also crosses into Fremont County.
County Engineer JD King presented maps and a tabulation of crossings associated with the application and said the contractor will bore at some road crossings and trench (to five feet deep) at others; the county will require casing in road ditches and deeper installations where indicated. King said the submission shows 85 separate crossings in Page County; because of the number and distribution of crossings he provided a packet of detailed maps instead of a single overview map. King said the work will be coordinated with MidAmerican and Mortensen contractors who were in attendance.
The board moved, seconded and recorded "ayes" to approve the utility permit. The permit allows the company's contractors to proceed with the crossing work under county permit conditions; King will return the signed permit to MidAmerican for contractor coordination.
