District technology leadership told the board on April 22 that the technology office will deploy refreshed Chromebooks for grades 6-12 the week of Aug. 21 and distribute iPads for UPK-1 at the start of the school year. The refresh is part of an ongoing multi-year device cycle the district began in 2016.
"Our phishing prone rate is 1.7 percent. The industry standard is 2.9," Technology Director Brian Zimmer said, citing the district's frequent phishing tests and partnership with Arctic Wolf for 24/7 monitoring.
Zimmer also described the district's enrollment in a student-data privacy consortium that centralizes vendor vetting and legal review and said the tech team is about 96-97% complete migrating district Windows devices ahead of Windows 10 reaching end-of-support in October 2025. He asked board members to make devices available for a short update.
On safety, Zimmer and other administrators said the district will conduct a large-scale emergency drill on Thursday, June 19, at Willink. Publishers Parkway will be closed between Calvary Automation and Hard Road for the exercise, the presentation said. No students will participate; staff volunteers and public-safety partners ' Webster Police, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, fire and ambulance agencies ' will take part to test incident-response systems.
Ending Administrators said the cybersecurity work and device refreshes aim to minimize instructional disruption; the district will notify residents about the June 19 drill and will recruit staff volunteers for the exercise.
