Trustees review $308,350 contract to restore courts at Stough and Brook parks; item set for consent

Village staff told the Hinsdale Village Board on April 22 that court surfaces at Stough Park and Brook Park need restoration and recommended awarding a contract to JNR First and Asphalt Inc. for $308,350.
Staff described Stough Park as north of the train tracks with two tennis courts and a full‑size basketball court; Brook Park, near 294 and 407, contains two tennis courts, six pickleball courts and two half basketball courts and is heavily used for pickleball. To accommodate demand, staff said the proposal repurposes some tennis and basketball court areas at Brook Park to better support pickleball, tennis and basketball play.
Design Perspectives acted as a consultant to oversee the bidding process and the renovation work, staff said. Six bids were received and JNR was the lowest qualified bidder. The 2025 capital improvement plan budgeted $324,000 for the work; the recommended contract is about $15,650 below that budgeted amount.
Trustees placed the item on the consent agenda for final approval at a subsequent meeting; no final contract award vote was recorded on April 22.
Staff noted JNR previously completed 2024 renovations at Burns Field and recent projects in Burr Ridge and Western Springs.
