Board actions at a glance: policies, expenditures, consent items; marching band jacket purchase withdrawn

The Farmington Public School District Board of Education approved several routine governance and fiscal items at its April 22 meeting and withdrew a purchase motion pending follow-up.

Policy updates: The board adopted three policies recommended by the board governance committee and Miller Johnson’s policy manual memo dated March 5, 2025: Policy 6.003 (firearms and weapons), Policy 6.004 (school crisis response and closure) and Policy 8.002 (Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act). The motion to adopt the three policy updates passed by roll call vote.

Expenditures: Trustees approved the district expenditure report dated April 22, 2025, covering multiple funds. The general fund expenditures listed were $24,398,654; athletics $264,710; debt fund $144,193; 2020 bond capital projects $1,731,231; nutrition services $816,534; and benefit stabilization $2,603,575, for a stated total of $29,958,897. The board recorded the approval on the record.

Consent agenda: The consent agenda passed and included approval of minutes (April 8 regular meeting and April 17 finance/facilities committee meeting), Head Start director’s monthly reports, and personnel items.

Marching band jackets: Trustees discussed a recommended purchase of new rain jackets for Farmington High School and North Farmington High School from Francis Enterprises for $40,173 (shipping and handling excluded in the motion). Trustees asked for clarity on shipping and handling; because that detail was not available, the motion to purchase was withdrawn from the floor and staff said they will return the item once shipping/delivery details are confirmed.

Other business: The board also heard committee reports and district updates during the meeting.
