Portage County commissioners approve contracts, awards, budget amendments and transfers

The Portage County Board of Commissioners voted on a slate of routine items on April 10, approving contracts, awards, budget amendments, a fund transfer and administrative authorizations by unanimous roll call.
Highlights included approval of a professional-services agreement with Quality Control Inspection, Inc. for the 2025 roadway construction administration contract; acceptance of a low-bid award to Ramya Hading, Inc. for the 2025-441 resurfacing improvement projects; approval of plans and a bid date for the Pioneer Trail Bridge replacement project in the city of Aurora; and amendments to an existing resolution to enter a conversion agreement with the Local Government Services Division of the Auditor of State for 2024 financial-statement preparation.
The board also authorized a county official (Commissioner Mike Timlin) to sign a letter of authorization for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles allowing Geraldine Lauer, fleet coordinator, or Jackie Jacqueline Petty, director of budget and finance, to complete and sign required forms for an investigative fictitious license plate for Portage County. Commissioners approved processing payments and ACH disbursements as presented by the county auditor contingent on verification, and they approved budget amendments processed by the Department of Budget and Financial Management.
Other approved items included a transfer from Fund 5200 to Fund 5323 for regional sewer improvements, a declaration of necessity to add two vehicle units to the county fleet for the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, and payment of the 2024 annual filing fee of $1,354 to the City of Kent under Ohio Revised Code section 3705.24.
