The South Colonie Central School District Board of Education recognized the Colony Community Connection and Boscov's for a community partnership during its April 23 meeting and heard routine end-of-year updates from Superintendent Dr. Perry.
Board President introduced a recognition of Colony Community Connection at the Colony Center Mall and thanked representatives from Boscov's and district staff for supporting student work experiences. Board members and staff named students who participated and thanked volunteers and store partners for their role in the program.
Superintendent Dr. Perry reviewed end-of-year calendar items: because the district had unused snow days, the district will observe May 23 as a contingency day; the last day of regular high-school classes is Friday, June 13; high-school graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25 at MVP Arena; middle-school moving-up ceremonies are planned for June 26 at the high school gymnasium, with specific times to be published. Dr. Perry also noted spring sports are underway, student performances (including the high school musical) have been nominated for postseason awards, and staff are preparing for Regents and local exams.
Board members used the opportunity to highlight community events: a spring craft fair at the high school, athletic season openers, and recent seal-of-biliteracy testing where multiple students demonstrated proficiency in languages including Chinese, Spanish, French and others.
The recognition and superintendent remarks were presented without formal action; the board paused for photographs and acknowledgments before moving to the next agenda items.
