District outlines data-analytics rollout, promises board access to Tableau and KPIs before fall

Superintendent Michael Baumann and Dr. Emily McDonald updated the Lakeville Area School Board on the district’s work to create a common operating picture through a data warehouse, Tableau visualizations and integration with existing systems such as Infinite Campus and EduCLIMBER.
Dr. Emily McDonald said the district intends to provide data at five operational levels — board/strategic, district/system, site (school), PLC (teacher teams), and classroom — and emphasized that different levels require different specificity. She listed high-level metrics that will be available to the board, including enrollment counts, class sizes and graduation rates, and said the district is working to add leading indicators such as FastBridge norm-referenced growth and in-progress MCA reporting.
Superintendent Baumann described the technical architecture: data sources will include PowerSchool/Infinite Campus, finance systems, MCA and FastBridge; data will feed a warehouse and then Tableau visualizations. He said EduCLIMBER — used for academic interventions and behavior tracking at the classroom/building level since 2019 — provides detailed classroom-level data and that some EduCLIMBER aggregates can feed higher-level reporting. The district finance and analytics staff said they are configuring data flows and working with vendors to structure financial and academic datasets for reporting.
The administration will provide board members with Tableau login credentials and a Google form for KPI requests; early access will include introductory visualizations (enrollment, class sizes, graduation rates) and a scheduled expansion to leading academic indicators. Dr. McDonald said the district aims to roll a more comprehensive set of KPIs by the fall, with iterative monthly and quarterly business reviews to keep the board updated. The superintendent said the administration will continue to refine datasets and asked board members to submit KPI questions via the district’s forthcoming form.
