Planning Commission approves multiple plats and rezones; several items recommended to city council

Oklahoma City — The Oklahoma City Planning Commission on April 24 approved multiple preliminary and final plats and recommended several rezones and special planned unit developments (SPUDs) to City Council, while deferring one rezoning for further clarification.

The meeting opened with routine business: the commission voted to receive the minutes of April 10, 2025, and approved continuance requests listed on the agenda. Commissioners then moved through a consent docket and heard individual items. Most land-use items were approved or recommended for City Council action with little debate.

Among actions approved on the consent or individual docket were final plats for Bison Creek Section 3 and Braxton Section 4; preliminary plats including Western Hills addition; and multiple rezoning/SPUD recommendations that the commission voted to forward to City Council. The commission recommended approval for several right-of-way or easement closures and other land-use cleanups.

The commission deferred one rezoning application (SVD-17-25 / 1210 North Ann Arbor Avenue) after detailed public comment and staff discussion about allowing or limiting on-site personal storage use and whether new structures should be allowed to exceed existing nonconforming footprints. Commissioners asked staff and the applicant to catalog existing on-site structures and return with clearer, enforceable language; the item was continued to the May 8 meeting.
