Babylon zoning board approves accessory-apartment permits and 31 renewals by affidavit

The Town of Babylon Zoning Board approved several individual accessory-apartment applications and a group of 31 renewals by affidavit during a public meeting, granting the applicants permits and confirming administrative paperwork and inspections.

Board members said the approvals followed staff verification of affidavits of posting, property inspections and submitted identification or utility documents, and that successful applicants should expect permits by mail and renewal cycles of three years. The board approved an application from Lumi Villatoro (address listed on the application, West Babylon) after staff confirmed an inspection dated 03/07/2025 and supporting documents. Marie Chattagone’s application (inspection dated 03/26/2025) was also approved after staff confirmed filing requirements. An applicant who arrived without a completed file, Michael Carey, was told his application was not ready to be heard and staff would follow up by phone.
