The board approved the consensus resolution agenda by voice vote. Roll-call votes followed for individual resolutions: Resolution 3‑26 passed 5‑0; Resolution 3‑27 passed with four votes in favor and one abstention; Resolution 3‑28 passed with four votes in favor and one abstention; Resolution 3‑29 passed by voice vote. Council members present recorded their votes as part of the meeting minutes.
Councilman Mineta moved to table Resolution 2‑43; Councilman Martinez seconded and the motion to table carried. The board announced the item would be taken up at the June 4 meeting.
In the open public comment portion, Maddie Highland of Seaford spoke about advocacy for people with developmental disabilities and thanked the Winter Center for Autism in West Babylon for its work. Highland identified herself as an advocate and commended the town deputy clerk and other staff for their assistance. Supervisor Schaffer and others noted the town’s ongoing engagement with the center and praised efforts to help program participants find employment.
