Lenovo rollouts near completion; BS&A hotfix briefly disabled cash receipts

Franklin City IT staff told the commission that manual deployment of new Lenovo laptops and desktops is about 80% complete. Remaining upgrades are scheduled for DPW, sewer, water, finance, treasury and police dispatch.
The commission also heard that BS&A (the city’s financial/records application vendor) released a security patch/hotfix on April 15 that caused a database schema change. The patch prevented the city from performing cash receipts until staff installed all required module updates and the vendor corrected the issue by the end of the business day. The IT director described the incident as disruptive: “When you’re number 90 in the call queue, you got a problem,” and said that the vendor corrected the issue and restored functionality by the close of that business day.
Staff also noted a residual issue in which Exchange prompted users for passwords when mounted shared mailboxes were used; staff said that is being addressed as part of the Exchange migration and Microsoft 365 onboarding work. IT confirmed other applications flagged for compatibility checks (for example, NetMotion VPN, certain department‑specific legacy systems) are being inventoried as part of the domain migration planning.
No formal action was taken on these operational updates. Staff will continue deployments, track outstanding compatibility issues, and include any critical failures in future reports to the commission.
