Commissioners discuss concessions and alcohol permit for Chamber event at county fairgrounds

Limestone County commissioners discussed vendor concessions and permitting for a Chamber of Commerce event at the county fairgrounds and said the planned vendor layout would be similar to prior approvals at the show barn.

A commissioner said organizers will have concessions and vendors — “food vendors, drink vendors, like lemonade vendors, energy drink vendors, no alcohol vendors, or anything like that,” — and that the setup would be substantially the same as previously approved county events. Commissioners reviewed a pair of letters on the item and indicated they intended to take action consistent with prior practice.

At least one commissioner asked whether the Chamber would in the future obtain a license or permit to allow alcohol sales at events; staff and other commissioners did not record a definitive answer on the record. Meeting dialogue emphasized that, for the upcoming event, the county expects nonalcohol vendors and that the county will apply the same terms used for prior event approvals.
