Kendall County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution authorizing grant applications and related project-management activities for the Cypress Creek Dam project, a regional detention scheme intended to reduce flooding in Comfort.
County staff said engineering consultant Schiaibe Engineering is preparing several grant applications for the project and that the project sponsor (Kerr County is the likely project host for a detention facility on Cypress Creek or North Creek). Commissioners voted 5–0 to adopt the resolution, which authorizes the county judge to act as the county’s designated agent for grant applications and to approve the submission and management of grants connected with the Cypress Creek Dam effort.
Staff said the county will ask the consultant to return for a fuller briefing on applications and timing when the consultant is available; one consultant representative was unable to attend the meeting because of a family emergency. Commissioners moved and approved the resolution to ensure it would be available for imminent grant submittals and requested future updates on application status.
The court’s resolution formalizes Kendall County’s support for grant applications related to the Cypress Creek project and designates the judge as the agent for signature on grant documents. Commissioners voted 5–0 to approve the resolution.
