Dougherty County elections office outlines June election schedule; board approves March minutes

The Dougherty County Board of Registrations and Elections on April 22 approved the minutes of its March 24 meeting and heard a supervisor’s report on preparations for the June election.
The board approved a motion that "the minutes of March 24 be adopt and approve in part of our record," with a voice vote in which members responded "aye" and no opposition recorded. Bishop, a board member, presided over the meeting.
Elections staff reported turnout and preparations. The elections supervisor (name not specified) said, "So we had, 351 voters to cast their ballots on election day. 107 that participated in advance voting. And 6 absentee ballots were returned and, counted." The supervisor added that the office has received ballot proofs and is reviewing them now: "So, the office staff is currently reviewing those now to make sure they are accurate."
The supervisor outlined the poll-worker and equipment training schedule. "We will start the poll worker training, May 1. That'll be the BMD and scanner training. May 5 and May 6. And May 8 will be the provisional training," the supervisor said. Additional training dates listed included May 12 and May 13; "Polepad training starts on May 15 and May 19," and overview training that will be virtual on May 21 and May 22. The supervisor identified the Candy Room as an in-person training location and said those trainers "will be in the Candy Room at 6, 6PM."
Officials also announced voter deadlines and advanced voting dates. The supervisor said, "The voter registration deadline for that June is May 19. Advanced voting would take place May 27 through June at the Candy Room. And for that election, there are also 2 mandated Saturday votings. So that's May 31 and June 7." The supervisor added that "the last day that we are allowed to accept absentee valid applications is June 6."
Board member Annabelle seconded the motion to adopt the March 24 minutes. No other items were raised under future planning or other business, and the board set its next meeting for May 21 at 4 p.m.
The meeting began with an invocation by Annabelle and concluded with adjournment after the announced items.
