Commission okays one-year extension for legacy accounting backup contract

Dunn County approved a one-year extension of the county's agreement with CPT (legacy vendor) to retain backup access to accounting and tax records during the county’s transition to Tyler Tech.
County staff explained the decision is a safeguard: the migration to the new finance and tax system does not include all historical backups, and losing access to the legacy system could prevent retrieval of historical records. The extension would run through Dec. 30, 2026, and staff said the cost is roughly $2,300 per month for the full package but that some services might be pared back to about $1,500 per month.
Commissioner Heiser moved to authorize the county to enter the contract renewal; Commissioner Pelton seconded the motion. Commissioners voted in favor by voice vote.
Staff said the extension is a form of insurance while the county completes data migration and that the contract will be managed to retain tax and finance systems the county deems necessary during the transition to Tyler Tech.
