The City Council on April 23 accepted completion of the 2024 Street Improvements Project and authorized the mayor to sign the acceptance for work performed by Granite Construction. Public Works staff said physical completion occurred Feb. 5 and the final contract cost was $904,307.52, lower than the $1,005,597 award amount.
Public Works Director Chris Phillips presented the item and recognized project manager Dean and the Public Works team for delivering the project under budget. Phillips told council, “Waldo's back, healthy, and I got a good clean bill of health,” in a light‑hearted opening; he then confirmed the project met plans and specifications and recommended acceptance.
Council member Mary moved to approve acceptance; Council member Melissa seconded. The council approved the acceptance by voice vote.
Staff said the cost savings reflect favorable bidding and effective project management. No change orders or outstanding punchlist issues were raised during the public discussion recorded in the meeting transcript.
The acceptance allows staff to close the contract and proceed with final administrative steps to finalize payment and record retention.
