Extension highlights end-of-life financial and health-care planning program

Anna, the extension human development educator, told the Walworth County Board of Agriculture Extension Education Committee on April 21 about a program that helps people plan end-of-life finances, health-care decisions and final wishes.
Anna said the class is seven sessions long and is delivered both in person and online. She said the online option lets educators across the state combine resources; locally the program often has only two Walworth County registrants but the shared statewide delivery reduces the instructor time needed. "It really is a gift to give your families when it's time for them to have to deal with some issues," Anna said, describing why the program focuses on preparing documents and decisions in advance.
She told the committee the course has run in libraries and online and that organizers aim to offer the program two to three times in the fall and occasionally locally. Anna said the program is presented with sensitivity and that it uses humor to make a heavy topic easier to approach.
The committee had no follow-up questions; the item was presented for information rather than action.
