Walworth County extension staff review 4-H school programs and outreach

The Walworth County Board of Agriculture Extension Education Committee on April 21 received an overview of 4-H programming in Walworth County, with staff pointing the committee to pages 3–12 of the meeting packet for details.
Committee members were told the packet includes materials on 4-H Science Lab visits that bring hands-on activities such as bread- and paper-making into local schools. The committee heard that those classroom experiences supplement club and volunteer meetings happening separately in communities across the county.
An extension staff member summarized the packet and noted the materials include a brochure used to promote the science lab to school systems. The staff member said the packet is intended to give the committee “a higher level view of some of the 4‑H stuff going on in the absence of Janelle and Debbie,” referring to the two 4‑H educators who were not present.
Supervisor Sheila Reif commented that she had recently visited a multigenerational 4‑H family and praised the program for serving both farm and nonfarm families. Chair Rick Stacy and other committee members acknowledged the report and had no further questions.
The committee did not take formal action on the 4‑H materials; the packet was presented for information and awareness.
