The board held a public hearing on April 22 to allow public input on using Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 funds to purchase an 18-passenger expansion bus and to use toll revenue credits as a soft match to the grant.
Joanne Granger, transit services director, said the application requests $200,000 in FTA funds and will use toll revenue credits in lieu of a county cash match. She explained the public hearing is a requirement of FTA grant rules and invited public comment; one attendee asked whether the bus purchase was from a prior budget year and the staff clarified the funds are current.
After the hearing, the board moved to approve items H3 B and C (the public hearing and application authorization). Commissioner Holly Davis moved to approve H3 B and C; Commissioner Jana Barrick seconded. The vote was recorded as unanimous with the board voting "aye" and the motion carrying 4-0.
Why it matters: The action allows Citrus County Transit to pursue federal capital funding to expand fleet capacity; federal grant awards typically require documentation of local match and public notice.
Speakers and evidence: Joanne Granger (Transit Services Director) presented; the motion was made by Commissioner Holly Davis and seconded by Commissioner Jana Barrick.
