AACPS reiterates redistricting is superintendent-led; three scenarios posted for public comment

Board President Silkworth and Superintendent Dr. Bedell told the board the Phase 2 redistricting process remains led by the superintendent, supported by a private consultant, and that the three scenarios posted online are scenarios not recommendations.
Silkworth said a private consultant, WXY, produced three scenarios and that they are "just that. They are not proposals. They are not recommendation[s]." He said the superintendent may amend scenarios based on community feedback and other factors, and that the board will not be directly involved in planning until the superintendent makes a recommendation.
Dr. Bedell reminded the public the last of three community meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Annapolis Middle School, and said comments on the published scenarios can be left through May 15 at www.aacpsredistricting.org. He said the superintendent plans to issue an initial recommendation in July and that the board will select options to bring forward for public briefings and hearings scheduled later in the process.
