Johnson, who identified himself during public comment as representing Decorah Human Power Trails. He said volunteers cleared debris and repaired erosion at Van Peinen, Ice Cave and Palisades Park.
Johnson said DHPT presented its eight‑page 2025 maintenance plan to Parks & Recreation; the plan outlines three proposed trail reroutes intended to create more sustainable trail sections and improve user experience. He said the proposals were developed in collaboration with parks staff and the parks and facilities superintendent and that the volunteer group values that ongoing coordination.
Johnson also noted a scheduled Earth Day tree‑planting event where volunteers will plant trees at Triple Springs and continue invasive species removal work; volunteers are slated for two shifts that day to cover Palisades and Van Peinen areas.
