The City of Lawrenceburg approved a $125,995 contract Monday to replace the main pumps and control equipment at the lift station serving the Lawrenceburg Speedway.
City officials said the work covers the two primary 30-horsepower pumps, associated valves and the control panel, and will connect the station to the city’s remote monitoring system so public-works staff can track status from phones or computers.
City staff solicited bids for the project and received two offers, the low responsible bid being from Indiana Pump Works for $125,995. City staff said the existing pumps have not been replaced in 22 years and were clogged with abrasive material during recent dirt-moving work at the track.
During the City of Lawrenceburg Board of Works meeting, staff said the city intends to secure the contractor now to lock the quoted price and take delivery of components off-site; installation would be scheduled after the speedway’s racing season (staff indicated an October timeframe as preferred to avoid wet-season delays). Officials said the new controls will be integrated into the same monitoring platform used for other city facilities.
The board moved and voted to accept the low responsible bid from Indiana Pump Works and to authorize staff to proceed with contracting. Board members said the city will monitor cash-flow for parks maintenance before scheduling the installation but that securing the contractor now avoids extended lead times.
The project budget line and the source of funds were discussed briefly; the motion passed at the meeting.
