The Gates Chili Central School District opened April 22 meeting time to celebrate staff accomplishments and tenure milestones before moving to regular business.
Janice Phillips, the district’s school nutrition director, and the wellness committee presented awards recognizing Katie Elkins for leading staff wellness and yoga classes and Carmen (last name not given in the transcript) for sustained service in the school nutrition office, including cashiering, invoicing and coordinating government produce delivery. Phillips described Elkins as “lighthearted, thoughtful, and caring” and credited Carmen as “the heart and soul of the department.”
Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations Michaela Perado introduced district recipients of 10-year tenure recognition. Perado described tenure as a milestone reflecting professional commitment and asked recipients to come forward to receive certificates from Superintendent Daley and a gift from their building administrator; the transcript lists many individual recipients by name and building and invited recipients and guests to refreshments after photographs.
Later in the meeting the board took action to approve tenure appointments listed on the April 22 agenda. President Coffey called for a motion and the board approved the superintendent’s recommended tenure appointments by unanimous vote; the transcript does not record individual roll-call tallies.
Ending
Superintendent Daley and board members thanked staff and the tenure recipients; the meeting then continued with committee reports and budget business.
