The Logansport City Board of Public Works and Safety on April 23 approved multiple street-related requests, including new parking signage and temporary street closures for a downtown block party.
Chad from the Street Department presented a request for parking signs on Eighth Street and High Street to create additional employee parking near the corner where several city employees park. Chad said the council discussed placing two signs on High Street close to the Eighth Street corner and two on Eighth Street. The board voted to approve the sign request by roll call.
Chad also presented a street-closure request from Security Federal Savings Bank for a block party. The requester sought to close Pearl Street from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. for an event scheduled 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and to close the alley on the southwest corner of the building from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The board approved both temporary closures.
Both actions passed by recorded yes votes from Levi Jones and Chris Martin. Staff will coordinate barricades, notifications and any required permits with event organizers.
