The Marshfield Common Council on April 22 accepted findings of fact and recommendations from its Judiciary & Licensing Committee and directed the council president to issue written findings that suspend the Class B liquor license for La Tabernina Club Nocturno LLC.
Brian Varsho, chairperson of the Judiciary & Licensing Committee, reported that the committee held a disciplinary hearing into the Class B license for La Tabernina Club Nocturno at 434 S. Central Ave. The committee recorded multiple violations by the licensee, including being open after hours on 6/30/2024 and 7/21/2024 and a subsequent incident in February 2025 in which the premises was open after hours and law enforcement was refused entry.
Based on testimony from the licensee (Yolanda Hernandez), her manager, the police chief and a qualified interpreter, the committee recommended assessing a total of 65 demerit points (25 points for a third after-hours opening and 40 points for failure to allow an inspection in accordance with Wisconsin Statute 125.0253). The committee recommended suspending the Class B liquor license beginning April 23, 2025, with reopening allowed on May 3, 2025.
The council moved to accept the committee’s findings and to direct Council President Brian Varsho to issue the committee’s written decision. The motion passed.
