The Monroe County Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees at its April meeting approved the consent agenda and a series of routine and financial items.
By voice vote the board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes for March 25 and April 10 meetings and financial reports for March. Trustees also accepted more than $4,000 in donations.
The personnel report was approved. Human resources announced an administrator resignation by Dr. Christopher Finley, who served 26 years (27 including student teaching) and will accept a position with Avon Community School Corporation. Administrative retirement was announced for Chief Financial Officer John Kenny, who served 8.25 years. Certified retirements approved included Jarmine Fareed Driscoll (17 years), Diana Johnson (25.5 years) and Shannon Roberts (31 years). The administration said the combined resignations and retirements represent about 107.75 years of service to the district.
Trustees approved contracts and awarded one bid as presented. The board also adopted Resolution 2025-O6, a tax anticipation warrant allowing MCCSC to obtain a temporary loan to meet current expenses of the operations fund in anticipation of the 2025 operations fund tax levy. Chief Financial Officer John Kenny said the district intends to work with the Indiana Bond Bank to obtain a tax anticipation warrant in the amount of $12,000,000, to be received in late May and payable in late December after semiannual property tax distributions.
The board approved an earlier motion to amend the agenda to add a teacher-petition discussion (item 6.04), which was discussed later in the meeting; no policy action was taken on that discussion the same night.
