Workers' Compensation Division outlines planning budget, vendor timeline and quality controls for IT modernization (Senate Bill 55 11 informational meeting)

Matt West, administrator of the Workers' Compensation Division (WCD) at the Department of Consumer and Business Services, presented an update April 23 in an informational meeting on Senate Bill 55 11 about the division's multi‑biennium modernization program and a Policy Option Package (POP 102) to support planning and contracting for a new workers' compensation information system.

West said the modernization program, launched in February 2019, is focused on transforming business processes and replacing legacy technology to improve regulatory efficiency, data quality and stakeholder service. "The workers' compensation division has made a significant investment to transform business processes and implement modern technology to better serve our customers," West said. He described legacy systems and databases more than 30 years old that require manual workarounds and so‑called "shadow" applications such as spreadsheets.
