River Falls issues proclamations for Police Appreciation Week, clerks week and crowns UW–River Falls women’s hockey; mayor’s appointments approved

At its April 22 meeting the River Falls Common Council read and recorded several ceremonial proclamations and approved two mayoral appointments.
Mayor Dan Tolan read a proclamation designating May 11–17, 2025, as Police Appreciation Week in River Falls and May 15, 2025, as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The council also read a proclamation recognizing the 56th annual Professional Municipal Clerk Week (May 4–10) and a proclamation commending the University of Wisconsin–River Falls women's hockey team for winning the 2025 NCAA Division III national championship.
The hockey-team proclamation named senior co-captain Bailey Olsen and listed teammates, coaches and staff by name, and commended the program and athletic department for the team's accomplishments. The proclamation reads in part that the team "won its second consecutive national championship after defeating Amherst College 3–1." The proclamation commended athletes, coaches and staff and wished them continued success on and off the ice.
The mayor nominated Mark Klecker for reappointment to the Utility Advisory Board through May 2028 and John Longzer for reappointment to the Police and Fire Commission through April 2030. A council member moved to accept the appointments and the council approved them by voice vote.
