Board approves joint-powers agreement for County Road J reconstruction; county share estimated at $727,365

The Anoka County Board unanimously approved Contract C0008566, a joint-powers agreement with Ramsey County covering reconstruction projects on County Road J from Centerville Road to Otter Lake Road and improvements to the I-35E/CR J interchange.
Commissioner Jepsen said the JPA outlines cost and maintenance responsibilities for Anoka County, Ramsey County and affected cities; he said the county will negotiate a separate agreement with the city of Lino Lakes to address the city's cost share.
Jepsen told the board Anoka County—s estimated share of the project is $727,365.08 and that approximately $275,000 of that amount will be the responsibility of the city of Lino Lakes under the negotiated cost-share arrangement. “This project is going to be, at Ash Street in 35E, full access north and south,” Commissioner Reinert said, noting long-term local interest in the improvement.
The board authorized the county engineer to enter into the Lino Lakes contract (C001154) for the city's portion and to advertise for signal painting projects in other cities. The joint-powers agreement passed on a unanimous roll call.
Commissioner Jepsen concluded with a safety reminder about distracted driving and the effects of seasonal roadway projects on crash risk.
