The Anoka County Board unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-51 Thursday, proclaiming May 2 as Law Day in Anoka County and endorsing a day of free legal clinics run by county and partner organizations.
Bethany Fountain Lindbergh, chief deputy county attorney, described Law Day as an annual outreach event the county has run since 2016. “We here in Anoka County have been celebrating Law Day since 2016,” she said, explaining the event—s goal is to make interactions with the court system more positive and to connect residents to legal services.
Fountain Lindbergh said this year—s clinics will provide assistance with unpaid fines, family law, expungement for criminal and housing matters, and limited civil issues. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety regional DMV director will be present to help people with driver—s-license issues, she said. Clinics will run mostly by appointment with some walk-ins from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in county court facilities.
The board offered its support through a formal proclamation and encouraged attendance; signs will direct attendees at the courthouse on May 2, the county said. The resolution passed by unanimous voice vote with no recorded amendments.
Law Day organizers said they are rebuilding services after COVID and hope to expand school programming and other outreach in future years.
