The council approved a preliminary site and building plan for Beckman Coulter’s building addition at 316 Lake Hazeltine Drive, a multi‑building campus in Chaska’s industrial park.
Project details
Liz, a city planner, presented the preliminary site plan: a two‑story addition with about 148,000 square feet of space (an approximately 88,000-square-foot footprint), new loading docks on the east and northwest sides of the addition, and a phased parking plan that will provide roughly 400 stalls with room to expand to 529 stalls if needed. Stormwater treatment will use a combination of underground and above-ground systems, and the building materials will generally match the existing concrete-panel aesthetic with additional glazing at the main entrance.
Company remarks
Amy Salisbury, senior director of operations at Beckman Coulter’s Chaska facility, told the council the expansion will support operations and added jobs. “We’re very excited to be able to be here in Chaska and, provide, you know, approximately 300 more jobs here, for the city of Chaska,” Salisbury said.
Council action and next steps
The council adopted Resolution No. 2025-22 approving the preliminary site and building plan with the standard technical conditions listed in staff materials. Staff said more detailed design and technical requirements will be reviewed at the final plan step. No public opposition was recorded during the hearing.
What to expect
The city will process final engineering, landscaping and technical plan items described in the resolution; Beckman Coulter will address wetlands, trees and an electric easement at the north property boundary in subsequent submittals. Construction timing and final permitting were not finalized at the meeting.
