Selectboard approves field rental policy language; Parks & Rec reports spring programs and camps are full or nearly full

The Board of Selectmen approved revised language for the town’s field rental agreement at its April 22 meeting and asked Parks & Recreation to supply a reference list of common damages and associated repair fees.
Jack, speaking for Parks & Recreation, presented sample fees for common damage items — including trash cleanup, turf repair and pitching-mound work — and the board voted to add policy language to the application that requires proof of liability insurance and holds permit holders responsible for damages incurred during permitted use. The board asked staff to send the draft language to town counsel before wide use and asked Parks & Rec to prepare a 5–10 item damage/fee schedule for staff reference and for applicants.
Parks & Recreation director Darcy reported spring program participation and that Camp Bogie (six-week camp) has 94 campers registered with most field trips full; the day-camp average is about 109 campers per week. Staff highlighted a successful community event (a Nerf night) and said a new director, Sarah Cutter, has been credited with expanding programming. The department reported two scoreboard installations and a small electrical/trenching issue on a warming wall project for softball; staff said they would coordinate with DPW and volunteers on installation and power routing.
The board praised staff for field maintenance and program delivery and encouraged continued outreach and social-media promotion to raise program awareness.
