Board amends 2025 budget to record ladder-truck purchase; finance director reports first-quarter revenues exceeded expenditures

Fannin County commissioners voted to amend the 2025 fiscal-year budget to account for the purchase of a ladder fire truck and related revenues, after a budget presentation from Finance Director Terry Walts.
Walts reported total fund revenues received to date of $8,157,066.99 and expenditures to date of $7,836,891.15, leaving net revenues over expenditures of $320,175.84 for the first quarter. He said the county purchased a ladder truck costing about $1.7 million and that the county expects a grant reimbursement of roughly $880,000 tied to that purchase. The board approved an amendment to increase the fire-department budget to reflect the truck purchase and the anticipated grant revenue.
A motion to amend the fiscal-year budget to include the ladder-truck purchase amount was made, seconded and approved on a voice vote.
Walts also noted that, apart from the ladder-truck purchase, department spending overall was approximately 25% of the annual budget through the first three months. Commissioners did not take additional budget actions beyond the amendment recorded at the meeting.
