Duncanville ISD bond projects move from design to construction; CTE groundbreaking set for May

Duncanville ISD staff provided a bond project update reporting multiple construction packages in design or active construction, scheduled portable moves at Duncanville High School and technology procurements beginning this summer.

Andre Fields and project partners from LAN and design firms reported the status of bond packages. Highlights included: - Several bond packages are in design; others are in construction. Central Academy and Brandenburg packages are nearing or in construction; package 8 (Duncanville High School CTE) is under construction. - IT procurement is underway: the district reported that purchase orders were issued, with an initial delivery of about 400 devices expected this summer and a follow-up batch of roughly 500 units the next year. - The Duncanville High School portable complex has city permits in place and the first portable move was scheduled to begin the week after the meeting; four portables were being prepared to support campus operations during construction. - Contractors have mobilized on multiple sites; the district reported using weekend and evening work to keep campuses open during school days while construction proceeds.

Fields and construction partners also previewed renderings for Central and Brandenburg, noted planned science labs and a black-box theater at Brandenburg, and showed classroom refresh photos at Daniel Elementary School. A ceremonial groundbreaking for the CTE building was scheduled for May 13, the district reported.

District staff said they will continue to update the board and publish bond-site progress materials. Trustees asked clarifying questions and were invited to the groundbreaking event.
