The Town of Huntersville unanimously adopted its Mobility Plan on April 22, a planning document that defines context-sensitive complete-streets cross sections for boulevards and thoroughfares, compiles a prioritized project list, and includes an online GIS database intended to help staff and the public evaluate and prioritize transportation projects.
Staff summarized work since an April 1 briefing: public engagement through surveys and focus groups, technical committee review with NCDOT and CRTPO members, and Planning Board review that recommended approval. The plan establishes six chapters covering vision and goals, existing-conditions analysis, a roadway typology/land-use matrix that maps cross sections to land-use contexts, and an implementation chapter listing steps by responsible parties.
The online GIS mapping tool provides pop-up cross-section details for each corridor to guide project design and funding decisions. Staff said the key change since the April 1 presentation was reorganizing action steps into roles for the town board and staff to make the plan easier to implement.
Commissioners thanked staff for the work required to compile the plan. The motion to adopt the Mobility Plan passed unanimously.
