Sweet Home reports lead-testing results; district begins remediation and retesting

District staff briefed the board on lead-in-water testing results and next steps after the New York State Department of Health lowered the action level from 15 parts per billion to 5 parts per billion.
At the meeting the administration said several outlets that would have passed the prior 15 ppb threshold fell within the 5-to-15 ppb range under the new state standard. Staff said they have begun remediation steps and retesting at affected outlets; the district posted the results on its website and will continue remediation work as required.
"We did retest some of the outlets at Willow Ridge and they've all come back as good," a staff member said, reporting on retesting outcomes for that building. The administration told the board there is not a single uniform statewide deadline for remediation and that the district is working through necessary repairs and replacements now.
The board asked for follow-up reporting, and members requested that future presentations include summer programming details and food distribution plans for families while remediation and summer operations continue.
