Dalton Mayor and Council on April 21 approved Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Amendment No. 2, which reallocates funds to the city’s capital improvement program (CIP), records an insurance reimbursement and recognizes a donation for Burr Park roof work.
Cindy (staff member) presented the amendment. She said the amendment records an insurance reimbursement of $4,000 for a wrecked vehicle and recognizes a $25,000 donation for the Burr Park roof extension. Staff described transfers from commercial insurance and software/IT savings into the CIP to fund capital items the council approved at the April 7 work session. Cindy summarized: “We are increasing revenues $4,000, increasing expenditures to $202,400, and the net impact of that $198,400 is the utilization of prior‑year capital fund balance.” She added the CIP purchases approved were $2,629,000, there was a reallocation of $97,411, and the amendment will use $1,986,590 of the prior year capital fund balance.
Council moved and approved the amendment by voice vote; the meeting transcript records the motion, a second and a voice vote of "Aye" but does not provide a roll‑call tally.
Why it matters: the amendment reallocates internal savings and a small insurance reimbursement to fund capital purchases already recommended in the city’s CIP, and formalizes a donor contribution toward Burr Park improvements.
The amendment was discussed at the finance committee meeting prior to the council action, per staff comments. No public comment was recorded on the budget amendment during the meeting.
