Council members pay tribute as Aldermen Park and Cahill leave Elmhurst City Council

The Elmhurst City Council on April 21 set aside time during other business to hear departing remarks and tributes for two outgoing aldermen.
Alderman Park (Fifth Ward) reflected on eight years of service, saying, “Serving as an active citizen and caring for my community has been incredibly meaningful,” and thanked staff, volunteers and her family for support. Colleagues praised Park’s persistence on issues including a citywide sidewalk network and credited her with consistent constituent engagement.
Council members also recognized Alderman Cahill (Fourth Ward) for his five years on the council and his service as vice chair of the Public Works Committee. Multiple speakers described Cahill as analytically minded, collegial and experienced in engineering and related topics; Alderman Jensen said Cahill’s “depth of knowledge” on public works matters will be missed.
Tributes came from Mayor Levin and a range of aldermen and staff. City Manager and department directors thanked both departing members for their service and said they considered them friends of city staff. The council concluded the meeting with a group photograph and adjourned.
