Superintendent Dr. Krueger explained the rationale for canceling a previously scheduled “meet the candidates” event: because only one candidate qualified to appear on the ballot, the district decided the public event was unnecessary, though the board agreed to continue providing bio information in district channels and to consider using the planned time for other community engagement, including potential student introductions for ex officio student board members.
Board members outlined student-related timelines: applications for the ex officio student board member role are due May 15, and the public school budget and school board election is scheduled for May 20. The board noted that if more than one student applies for the ex officio role, principals may interview applicants before forwarding a recommendation.
Later in the meeting the board voted unanimously (7-0) to enter executive session to discuss the employment history of a particular person; the board announced that no public business would follow the executive session.
