Councilmember Justice introduced Ordinance 66-2025 on April 22, 2025, seeking to amend section 121.2(b) of the Richmond Heights Council Administrative Code to swap the months for committee meetings between Planning & Zoning and Safety.
Justice said the schedule change is intended “so an applicant could have their case heard…coming to commissions to the committee meeting in the same month.” The committee voted to recommend the ordinance to council.
The meeting also opened with a roll call and approval of the Committee of the Whole minutes from April 8, 2025. A voice motion to approve the minutes passed with all recorded members voting yes: Jordan, Justice, Lewis, Nelson, Robinson, Silver and Ursula.
Nut graf: The proposed change aims to align committee schedules so applicants before the Planning Commission can also appear before the council committee within the same month, potentially speeding local review of zoning and planning cases.
Ending: Ordinance 66-2025 will advance to council for further readings and formal approval; the committee did not specify an effective date for the Administrative Code change.
