Lieutenant Saner, a lieutenant with the Nixa Police Department, said SafeWise ranked Nixa the sixth-safest community in Missouri and that officers responded to 525 calls for service last week, made six arrests and handled 11 motor vehicle collisions.
Saner opened the weekly update saying, "I'm Lieutenant Saner with the Nixa Police Department, and this is your weekly wrap up." He reported that officers conducted 49 traffic stops and that K-9 Jack had one deployment. Saner added that officers took 47 reports.
Saner said Officer Forgy taught D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) last week and that "he had 75 kids go through his D. A. R. E. Program over the past week."
Saner called the SafeWise ranking "huge news for us," and said, "We're really proud of that, and we're out here trying to keep Nixa as safe as we possibly can."
The department also announced a recruiting test day scheduled for April 19 for those interested in applying to the Nixa Police Department; applicants currently in the process were asked to ensure paperwork is complete. Saner closed the briefing with a routine sign-off to the community.
No formal actions, motions, or votes were recorded in the update.
