Resident tells council ongoing neighbor drug activity, repeated police calls have not resolved problem

During public comment at the April 21 Klamath Falls City Council meeting, resident Patricia Bartner described ongoing problems at a neighboring house on Home Avenue, saying she has repeatedly contacted police and other agencies about suspected drug activity and behavioral issues at the property.
Bartner said the occupant has a mental health condition and that she has witnessed people frequently come to the house to use methamphetamine and other drugs. She told council that emergency services have responded “at least a hundred times” to incidents at the address and that thefts and other disturbances have extended into her home. Bartner said she contacted the attorney general’s office and other authorities but remains frustrated that the situation continues.
Council did not take action during the meeting. Bartner’s remarks were presented during the public comment period; no staff report or council direction was recorded in response during the meeting.

"I had the police there three times," Bartner said, and "it's not fair and it's not right and I'm tired of it." She also said the neighbor’s family are the landlords and that the residence is paid for in part by public funds; she objected to what she called ongoing trafficking and dangerous substances at the property.
