Principals and district administrators delivered school-by-school updates at the April 22 Silver Creek School Corporation board meeting, reporting testing schedules, fundraisers, construction progress and extracurricular achievements across the district.
Primary principal Joe (last name not specified) said the district will host a kindergarten orientation (“Camp K”) and reported a PTO-read-a-thon that raised just shy of $16,000. He thanked families and volunteers and previewed incoming kindergarten engagement activities.
Silver Creek Elementary principal Mrs. Myers reported family night and a book fair tied to first-grade activities, an art-show contest with grade-level winners and an after-school I-Read tutoring program. She said iLearn testing for grades three through five was underway and that the school expects roughly 738 students to complete multiple assessments before testing finishes in May. Mrs. Myers also provided an update on the Dragon Dash fundraiser: the school had raised $38,000 toward goals that include picnic tables, Gaga ball pits and classroom whiteboards; prizes were tied to reaching $40,000 and $50,000 levels.
Silver Creek Middle School administration reported that testing season had begun, choir groups earned gold ratings at a recent competition, and spring sports and field-trip registration were ongoing. Middle-school elective selection and information sessions for incoming sixth graders were also announced.
High-school updates included athletics and performing-arts items. Dr. Willman and other high-school staff reported conference honors for athletes in basketball, baseball and track, announced that the archery team qualified for NASP Nationals in Louisville, and noted state-level choir and band competitions. The new high-school auditorium had reached substantial completion and opening night of the musical Oklahoma! was scheduled for the coming Friday. The high school reported a 58-point increase in SAT composite score from the previous year and a successful College and Career Day in April.
Operations and transportation updates: staff praised a new traffic pattern at the high school and ongoing construction work in phase 3 of the high‑school remodel, including project lead the way, culinary, choir, media and broadcasting spaces. The district plans to relocate two modular classrooms from the high school to the elementary as a capacity solution for next year. Board members recognized bus drivers during Bus Driver Appreciation Week and noted Teacher Appreciation Week planned for May 5.
Board members praised the career-day event, the construction progress and student achievements across grade levels. Administrators thanked staff, PTO volunteers and community partners for supporting events and logistics.
